Run readiness scan

run_readiness_scan

Start a full site readiness scan of the brand's website. Owners and admins only. Only the first scan, or a retry while none has completed, can be started by hand; later scans run weekly, and the call is then refused with scheduled_only and next_run_at (get_readiness shows can_start_scan). verify_readiness_fix re-checks one issue. Returns pending; follow it with get_operation or get_readiness. Cost: one full scan, counted for the month; scans have no monthly allowance.

brandYesBrand or study: its ID from list_brands, or its exact name. A partial name is refused.
idempotency_keyYesA unique key for this intended action. Reuse it with identical arguments when retrying: the write is not made again, and the reply is the first call's resource as saved (replayed: true) with current status; read tools show the resource's current state. Use a new key for another action.

TDQS

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations only cover the safety profile (readOnly=false, destructive=false, openWorld=true), while the description adds substantial undisclosed behavior: permission requirements, the weekly scheduling constraint and its refusal payload, the cost model ('one full scan, counted for the month'), and the pending return state with follow-up tools.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Highly front-loaded and every sentence carries information (permissions, eligibility, refusal payload, cost, follow-up). Slightly dense with parenthetical clauses, which costs a little readability, but there is no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutating, open-world tool with an output schema and full parameter coverage, the description supplies everything else an agent needs: authorization scope, the refused-call branch, quota accounting, and what to call next (get_operation or get_readiness).

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so both parameters are already fully documented in the schema, including the idempotency replay semantics. The description adds scheduling context around when a scan may be started but no additional parameter syntax or format, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: 'Start a full site readiness scan of the brand's website.' It is clearly distinguishable from siblings like get_readiness (read state) and verify_readiness_fix (re-check one issue), both of which it names.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly states who may call it (owners and admins only), when it can be called (first scan, or a retry while none has completed), and what happens otherwise (refused with scheduled_only and next_run_at). It also routes the agent to get_readiness for can_start_scan and names verify_readiness_fix as the alternative for issue-level re-checks.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
