Create report

create_report

Save a shareable report of the brand's results for a date range, compared with the same number of days before. Returns its public link at once; the link shows the report once its figures are built, usually within a minute. Cost: one report of plan capacity; on plans with report narratives, model budget for its summary.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
toNoEnd date, YYYY-MM-DD. Defaults to today.
fromNoStart date, YYYY-MM-DD. Defaults to 30 days ago.
nameNo
brandYesBrand or study: its ID from list_brands, or its exact name. A partial name is refused.
idempotency_keyYesA unique key for this intended action. Reuse it with identical arguments when retrying: the write is not made again, and the reply is the first call's resource as saved (replayed: true) with current status; read tools show the resource's current state. Use a new key for another action.

TDQS

A4.5/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=false, openWorldHint=true, idempotentHint=false, and destructiveHint=false, but the description adds substantial traits beyond that: the call returns the public link immediately while figures build asynchronously (usually within a minute), and it consumes real resources (one report of plan capacity, plus model budget for narratives). These are exactly the operational facts an agent needs before calling.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three sentences, zero filler, correctly front-loaded: purpose first, then return timing, then cost. Each sentence delivers a distinct decision-relevant fact and nothing is repeated from the schema or annotations.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

An output schema exists, so the description is not obliged to document return values, yet it still clarifies the asynchronous link semantics. Combined with cost/quota disclosure and the schema's full parameter documentation, an agent has everything needed to invoke this correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With 80% schema coverage the schema already documents to/from defaults, brand resolution, and idempotency_key retry behavior, so the baseline is 3. The description adds meaning the schema does not carry — that the date range is interpreted as a comparison against the prior equal-length period — which clarifies how to/from are actually used.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description gives a specific verb (save/create) and resource (a shareable report of the brand's results), plus the distinctive scope that the range is compared against the immediately preceding equal-length period. That scope detail separates it from siblings like list_reports and revoke_report without needing to name them.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied by the purpose: an agent can infer this is the tool for producing a shareable brand report. However there is no explicit when-to-use or when-not-to-use guidance, no mention of prerequisites (plan capacity, report narratives), and no routing between this and alternatives such as list_reports or get_brand_overview.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
