Answer page questions

answer_page_questions

Answer or skip a page's interview questions, the facts only you know. Once every question is answered or skipped, the plan is built; it returns pending until get_page shows it. Cost: model budget for the plan.

Input Schema

TableJSON Schema
NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
brandYesBrand or study: its ID from list_brands, or its exact name. A partial name is refused.
answersNoAnswers to record.
page_idYesPage ID from list_pages or create_page.
skip_remainingNoSkip every question still open and build the plan.
idempotency_keyYesA unique key for this intended action. Reuse it with identical arguments when retrying: the write is not made again, and the reply is the first call's resource as saved (replayed: true) with current status; read tools show the resource's current state. Use a new key for another action.

Output Schema

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Adds behavior beyond the annotations: the lifecycle consequence of completing all questions (plan is built) and the pending-until-visible state transition, plus the model-budget cost. Annotations cover mutation/open-world profile, but the description usefully supplies the async state and cost context they don't.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three tight sentences, front-loaded with the action and followed by the lifecycle consequence and cost. No filler, though the phrasing is slightly compressed in places.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With an output schema present, return values need not be spelled out, yet the description still conveys the pending/visible lifecycle and the completion trigger. It is complete enough for an agent to call correctly, with only the lack of explicit alternatives as a minor gap.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents brand, answers, page_id, skip_remaining, and idempotency_key in detail. The description's 'facts only you know' adds tone but no parameter semantics beyond the schema, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Answer or skip a page's interview questions') and clarifies the scope ('the facts only you know'), which separates it from read-side siblings like get_answer/list_answers. It does not explicitly name an alternative, so it falls just short of a 5.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives clear workflow context: once every question is answered or skipped the plan is built, and the tool returns pending until get_page shows it. This tells the agent where in the pipeline to call it, but it names no conditions for preferring it over siblings or when not to use it.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
