pm_list_sprint_groups

Read-onlyIdempotent

List all sprint groups in a space. Sprint groups are containers for sprints — each group has its own state machine (only one IN_PROGRESS sprint per group). Returns an array of SprintGroupDTO. API-key scope: sprints:read.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
accountNoMulti-account auth only: name of the account from X-Dutify-Accounts to use for this call. Ignored in single-account mode (X-API-Key header). When multiple accounts are configured and this is omitted, the call fails with ACCOUNT_REQUIRED listing the available names. list_accounts never requires a selection.
workspaceNoWorkspace identifier or exact name for this call. Overrides the configured workspace. For personal keys, discover candidates with list_workspaces and select explicitly. Does not change other calls or expand a workspace key's access.
spaceIdentifierYesSpace identifier (spc_…)

TDQS

A3.8/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnly/idempotent/non-destructive, so the bar is lower, and the description still adds real value: the required API-key scope `sprints:read`, the return shape (array of SprintGroupDTO), and the domain rule of one IN_PROGRESS sprint per group. It omits pagination/ordering behavior, which is the remaining gap.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three short sentences, each carrying distinct information (scope, domain model, return type, auth scope), with the core action front-loaded and no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a simple read-only list tool with fully described parameters and annotations, the description covers action, return type, and auth requirement. With no output schema, a bit more on result fields or ordering would make it complete.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents account, workspace, and spaceIdentifier. The description only implies the space scoping ("in a space") and adds no format or constraint detail beyond the schema, so baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The opening sentence states a specific verb and resource with scope ("List all sprint groups in a space"), and the follow-up sentence defines what a sprint group is, which separates it from plain sprint tools like pm_get_sprint. It does not explicitly name siblings such as pm_create_sprint_group, keeping it just shy of a 5.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is only implied — an agent can infer it should call this to discover sprint groups before creating sprints or starting one, but no when-to-use / when-not-to-use conditions or alternatives are stated.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
