generic_availability_timeline
For a US prescription drug, report whether a real MARKETED generic exists today — judged on CMS NADAC price dispersion across NDCs of one drug identity, not on FDA approval counts, because an approved generic that nobody sells does not lower anyone's price. Returns the price range for the identical pill when a generic is marketed, and when one is not, the earliest expiry among listed FDA Orange Book patents and exclusivities. NEVER presents a patent expiry as a launch date. Pediatric exclusivity (21 U.S.C. 355a) is honoured, which moves some dates six months later than naive de-duplication produces.
