Receive goods

p2p_receive_goods

Record what arrived against an order, as counted. Stock goes up; the goods are owed for until their bill is approved. Record what was counted at the door, against the order it came on, with the packing slip number when there is one. Never receive what was not counted, and never more than is still open on a line: that is refused with the numbers, and the answer is a conversation with the vendor, not a second order. Services are not received; their bill is matched against the order. A receipt cannot be changed afterwards. Effects: goods receipt recorded; stock increased through core; order received when every stocked line has arrived.

TDQS

A4.5/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the annotations, it discloses that stock increases, goods remain owed until bill approval, over-receipts are refused with numbers, services are excluded, receipts are immutable, and the order is received once all stocked lines arrive. This is rich behavioral context for a non-idempotent write tool.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is front-loaded and operationally useful, but the opening two sentences substantially restate the same receiving action. Some prose could be tightened without losing meaning.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a multi-line receiving mutation with no output schema, it covers the important effects, refusal behavior, immutability, and services exclusion. An agent has enough context to call it correctly and understand the consequences.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents all five parameters. The description reinforces counting semantics and the open-quantity constraint, but it does not add much parameter-level meaning beyond what the schema provides.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource: record what arrived against an order as counted. It also distinguishes receiving from bill matching for services, so an agent can tell it apart from related p2p tools.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives explicit when-to-use guidance, clear when-not rules such as never receiving uncounted goods or more than remains open, and points to bill matching for services. It also states that over-receipt is a vendor conversation rather than a second order.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
