Extract Section B CLIN Pricing Tables, Quotes & Labor Rate Cards

extract_pricing_schedule
Read-onlyIdempotent

Extract multi-tier CLIN/SLIN pricing schedules, GSA/T&M labor rate cards, vendor quotes, and Bill of Materials (BOM) tables from unstructured text into normalized JSON with automated line-item math auditing. This is a read-only, stateless extraction call (requires X-RapidAPI-Key; document_text accepts 20 to 100,000 characters, expected_document_type optionally hints the table schema, and audit_math_and_anomalies [default true] verifies quantity * unit_price == extended_price and flags arithmetic discrepancies). Use this tool when parsing pricing tables, CLIN schedules, invoices, or labor rate cards; use parse_b2b_contract instead for general contract dates/parties/deliverables, or search_historical_awards to look up historical government award prices.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
document_textYesRaw text or copied table content from a Federal Section B CLIN schedule, T&M labor rate card, B2B vendor quote, BOM, or invoice (20 to 100,000 characters).

audit_math_and_anomaliesNoWhen true (default), cross-checks each line item (`quantity * unit_price == total_price`) and subtotal summation, returning any arithmetic mismatches in `math_discrepancies`.

Output Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
line_itemsNoNormalized array of all extracted CLINs, SLINs, labor rate rows, and BOM SKUs.

TDQS

A4.5/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes beyond the annotations by disclosing the X-RapidAPI-Key requirement, statelessness, the 20–100,000 character input bound, and the default-on audit behavior that flags arithmetic mismatches. It duplicates readOnlyHint with 'read-only' and says nothing about error modes, rate limits, or cost, so it is strong but not exhaustive.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three sentences, each earning its place: capability and output, then operational/parameter context, then routing against siblings. The verb and resource are front-loaded before the dense parenthetical, so an agent can decide on the first clause.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

An output schema exists and annotations already declare the safety profile, so the description need not explain return values. It covers inputs, constraints, auth, defaults, and sibling routing — nothing an agent needs to invoke this correctly is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents all three parameters including the enum values and defaults. The description mostly restates those bounds; the only marginal addition is framing expected_document_type as an optional schema hint rather than a hard filter. Baseline 3 is appropriate when the schema does the heavy lifting.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (extract) plus the exact resource family (CLIN/SLIN pricing schedules, labor rate cards, vendor quotes, BOMs) and the output shape (normalized JSON with math auditing). An agent can distinguish it from parse_b2b_contract and search_historical_awards by name alone.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly names the when-to-use trigger (pricing tables, CLIN schedules, invoices, labor rate cards) and names two alternatives with the conditions that select them: parse_b2b_contract for dates/parties/deliverables, search_historical_awards for historical award prices. Nothing is left to inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
