Update product
well_update_productChange a product of the current workspace: its name, SKU, description, supply type, status, availability, price and currency, the product it nests under, its vendor, or the dates and scope of a dated price row.
Use this tool when the user asks to rename a product, change its price, archive it, mark it out of stock, or move it under another product, in any language ("Passe Audit SEO à 1 400 €", "Change SEO audit to 1,400 €"). A new price for a product is always this tool: it never adds an invoice line or drafts an invoice, and it asks for no customer. When the user gives the product_id, call this tool with it directly: the call itself refuses a product that does not exist or that a connected tool synced in, so reading the product first changes nothing. Otherwise find the product_id with well_list_products.
REQUIRED: product_id. OPTIONAL (only the fields the user wants changed): hidden, name, sku, description, supply_type, status, availability, stock_tracked, unit_price (a decimal string; it needs a currency), currency, parent_product_id, vendor_company_id, scope_company_id, scope_project_id, product_type_project_id, valid_from, valid_to (YYYY-MM-DD), category_ids (the ordered complete set of existing workspace tag UUIDs; [] clears all tags). Pass null to clear an optional field. Select tags by their UUID; do not infer or create tags from labels or product text.
availability here is a manual correction: Well keeps it with who set it and when, and shows it instead of the availability the stock decides. Pass availability: null to remove the correction so the stock decides again. stock_tracked: false makes the product ignore its stock (a service, a product made to order); its own availability then stands.
A product a connected tool synced in (synced: true) cannot be changed in Well: the next sync would overwrite the change. The call then fails; tell the user to change it in that tool.
hidden: true hides the product from Well's lists and figures and keeps it; hidden: false shows it again. It works on a synced product too, since no sync writes it. When the person asks to delete a synced product, well_delete_product refuses and offers this hide: ask the person, then call this tool with only product_id and hidden: true.
For a price request whose unit_price is missing, call this tool with requested_field: "unit_price" and omit unit_price. This request marker opens a follow-up for that field only. It is not sent to the API or stored on the product. Omit requested_field for every other update.
Returns { success: true, product } on success, or { success: false, error } on failure.
Input Schema
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| sku | No | ||
| name | No | ||
| hidden | No | true hides the row from Well's lists and figures and keeps it, with every value a connected tool wrote; false shows it again. Omit to leave it as it is. | |
| status | No | ||
| currency | No | ||
| valid_to | No | ||
| product_id | Yes | The product to change, from well_list_products. | |
| unit_price | No | ||
| valid_from | No | ||
| description | No | ||
| supply_type | No | ||
| availability | No | A manual availability correction, kept with who set it and when and shown instead of the value the stock decides. null removes the correction. | |
| category_ids | No | The complete ordered set of existing workspace tag UUIDs. Pass [] to clear every tag. | |
| workspace_id | No | Target workspace. Omit when the token authorizes one workspace. Required when it authorizes several — a write lands in exactly one workspace and this call would not say which. | |
| stock_tracked | No | ||
| conversation_id | No | The conversation id returned by the previous Well result, in its meta under well/conversation_id, in its structuredContent, or in its JSON text block. Pass it back on every call in the same conversation, including a call a card makes, so the chosen workspace and the earlier answers still apply. It decides the conversation on its own: nothing the host states about the session replaces it. Omit it only on the first call of a conversation. | |
| idempotency_key | No | Optional client-supplied key. A retried write with the same key returns the original result instead of re-applying the operation. | |
| requested_field | No | Set only when asking the person for this missing field. | |
| workspace_scope | No | Restrict this call to the family: the token's primary workspace plus the company workspaces under it that you are a member of. Unrelated authorized workspaces drop out of the read; row reads merge across the family, while a per-workspace figure still reports exactly one workspace. | |
| scope_company_id | No | ||
| scope_project_id | No | ||
| parent_product_id | No | ||
| vendor_company_id | No | ||
| product_type_project_id | No |
Output Schema

|---|---|---|---|
| code | No | ||
| error | No | ||
| product | No | ||
| success | Yes | ||
| previous | No | ||
| reply_lines | No | ||
| conversation_id | No | The conversation this result belongs to. Pass it back as the conversation_id argument on every later Well call in the same conversation. | |
| near_candidates | No | ||
| newly_connected | No | Tools that connected to this workspace since the last result and that no session was told about yet, oldest first. Present only when at least one tool is new. The connected-line rule says when to tell an entry; when it does, one line per entry, in the person's language: "<name> is connected.". Never fold several entries into one sentence. Each entry comes back once, on one result only: never repeat its line later. | |
| conversation_id_note | No | Present only when the server opened a fresh lane, stating that no choice recorded earlier was read. | |
| conversation_id_source | No | Where the conversation id came from: the host's own request meta, the caller's argument, or a fresh lane the server opened. | |
| near_candidates_truncated | No |
