Change a booking page

well_update_booking_page
DestructiveIdempotent

Change one booking page: its title, meeting length, color, location, weekly hours, address, description, how it shows open times or its theme. Call this when the user asks to change a booking page they named. The color must be a #RRGGBB hex code. The page can show open times as a month calendar (month, the default) or two weeks of days (two_weeks): set calendar_view when the user asks for one. The page is dark by default or light (light): set theme when the user asks for a light or dark page. Set weekly_hours to the days and hours people can book, in the user's time zone: a list of entries, each with days (1 is Monday, 7 is Sunday), start and end as HH:MM. Days with the same hours share one entry, so Monday 13:30 to 18:00, Tuesday 15:00 to 18:00 and the other weekdays 14:00 to 18:00 are three entries. A day with a break takes two entries. When the user gives only a start, keep the page's end (18:00 by default). weekly_hours replaces the whole week: send every open day. To change the page's address, pass slug: the old address keeps opening the page. This tool never makes another page the main page. When a chat can draw cards (the web chat), call well_get_booking_page_draft first instead, with this page's booking_page_id and the changes the user asked for, on every ask to edit a page, one the user just created from a card too: that card saves to the existing page with Save changes. Call this tool only when that result says card_drawn is false or when the user asks in chat to change it now. Never tell the user to press Create page for a page that exists.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
slugNo
themeNo
titleNo
locationNo
descriptionNo
weekly_hoursNo
workspace_idNoTarget workspace. Omit when the token authorizes one workspace. Required when it authorizes several — a write lands in exactly one workspace and this call would not say which.
calendar_viewNo
primary_colorNo
booking_page_idYesThe id of the booking page to change, from a list or get result.
conversation_idNoThe conversation id returned by the previous Well result, in its meta under well/conversation_id, in its structuredContent, or in its JSON text block. Pass it back on every call in the same conversation, including a call a card makes, so the chosen workspace and the earlier answers still apply. It decides the conversation on its own: nothing the host states about the session replaces it. Omit it only on the first call of a conversation.
idempotency_keyNoOptional client-supplied key. A retried write with the same key returns the original result instead of re-applying the operation.
workspace_scopeNoRestrict this call to the family: the token's primary workspace plus the company workspaces under it that you are a member of. Unrelated authorized workspaces drop out of the read; row reads merge across the family, while a per-workspace figure still reports exactly one workspace.
duration_minutesNo

Output Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
pageNo
errorNo
messageYes
successYes
reconnect_linkNo
conversation_idNoThe conversation this result belongs to. Pass it back as the conversation_id argument on every later Well call in the same conversation.
newly_connectedNoTools that connected to this workspace since the last result and that no session was told about yet, oldest first. Present only when at least one tool is new. The connected-line rule says when to tell an entry; when it does, one line per entry, in the person's language: "<name> is connected.". Never fold several entries into one sentence. Each entry comes back once, on one result only: never repeat its line later.
resolved_workspaceNoThe workspace that answered, when the caller named none and the token authorizes several.
conversation_id_noteNoPresent only when the server opened a fresh lane, stating that no choice recorded earlier was read.
conversation_id_sourceNoWhere the conversation id came from: the host's own request meta, the caller's argument, or a fresh lane the server opened.

TDQS

A4.6/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare destructiveHint=true and idempotentHint=true, so the safety profile is covered; the description still adds real substance by disclosing that weekly_hours replaces the entire week, that changing slug leaves the old address working, and that promotion to main page is out of scope. It stops short of stating whether permission requirements, validation failure behaviour, or partial-update semantics apply when a single field is invalid.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Purpose and the top-level editable fields are front-loaded, then the parameter rules, then the card-draft routing rule. It is dense but nearly every clause carries operational meaning; only the repeated framing around cards ('that card saves to the existing page with Save changes') could be tightened.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

A 14-parameter mutation with an output schema and full annotations is largely covered: editable fields, enum semantics, time formats and the draft-first workflow are all explained. The workspace_id, conversation_id and idempotency_key semantics are left entirely to their schema descriptions, which is acceptable but means the description is not self-sufficient for the multi-workspace case.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters5/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With only 36% schema description coverage, the description compensates heavily: primary_color must be #RRGGBB, calendar_view takes month (default) or two_weeks, theme takes dark (default) or light, weekly_hours takes entries of days (1=Monday..7=Sunday) with start/end as HH:MM, days sharing hours collapse into one entry, a break splits a day into two entries, and a missing end defaults to 18:00. These are semantic rules the JSON schema's regexes alone cannot convey.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Opens with a specific verb and resource ('Change one booking page') and enumerates exactly which attributes are editable: title, meeting length, color, location, weekly hours, address, description, calendar view and theme. This clearly separates it from well_create_booking_page and well_delete_booking_page, and the 'never makes another page the main page' clause rules out a plausible misreading.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives an explicit routing rule: on a chat that can draw cards, call well_get_booking_page_draft first on every edit ask, and call this tool only when card_drawn is false or the user asks to change it now. It also names the alternative (the card's 'Save changes' flow) and warns not to tell the user to press 'Create page' for an existing page.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
