Create a booking page

well_create_booking_page

Create a booking page, the public link where people book a meeting with the user. Call this when the user asks for a new booking page, or for a booking link with its own color, meeting length or hours. The color must be a #RRGGBB hex code: turn a color name such as green into a hex code before the call. slug is the page's own address: its link is /c//. When the user names an address such as /c/zachary/gods, pass its last part (gods) as slug. member_slug is the person's own address for their main page; pass it only when the user asks to choose that, on their first page. Set weekly_hours to the days and hours people can book, in the user's time zone: a list of entries, each with days (1 is Monday, 7 is Sunday), start and end as HH:MM. Days with the same hours share one entry, so Monday 13:30 to 18:00, Tuesday 15:00 to 18:00 and the other weekdays 14:00 to 18:00 are three entries. A day with a break takes two entries. When the user gives only a start, keep the page's end (18:00 by default). The page can show open times as a month calendar (month, the default) or two weeks of days (two_weeks): set calendar_view when the user asks for one. The page is dark by default or light (light): set theme when the user asks for a light or dark page. When a chat can draw cards (the web chat), call well_get_booking_page_draft first instead, on every ask to create a page and before any text answer or create: the card is where the user checks the page and presses Create page. Call this tool only when that result says card_drawn is false or when the user asks in chat to create it now. A page that already exists is changed with well_get_booking_page_draft and its booking_page_id, never by a new create.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
slugNo
themeNo
titleNo
locationNo
descriptionNo
member_slugNo
weekly_hoursNo
workspace_idNoTarget workspace. Omit when the token authorizes one workspace. Required when it authorizes several — a write lands in exactly one workspace and this call would not say which.
calendar_viewNo
primary_colorNo
conversation_idNoThe conversation id returned by the previous Well result, in its meta under well/conversation_id, in its structuredContent, or in its JSON text block. Pass it back on every call in the same conversation, including a call a card makes, so the chosen workspace and the earlier answers still apply. It decides the conversation on its own: nothing the host states about the session replaces it. Omit it only on the first call of a conversation.
idempotency_keyNoOptional client-supplied key. A retried write with the same key returns the original result instead of re-applying the operation.
workspace_scopeNoRestrict this call to the family: the token's primary workspace plus the company workspaces under it that you are a member of. Unrelated authorized workspaces drop out of the read; row reads merge across the family, while a per-workspace figure still reports exactly one workspace.
duration_minutesNo

Output Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
pageNo
errorNo
messageYes
successYes
first_createNo
reconnect_linkNo
conversation_idNoThe conversation this result belongs to. Pass it back as the conversation_id argument on every later Well call in the same conversation.
newly_connectedNoTools that connected to this workspace since the last result and that no session was told about yet, oldest first. Present only when at least one tool is new. The connected-line rule says when to tell an entry; when it does, one line per entry, in the person's language: "<name> is connected.". Never fold several entries into one sentence. Each entry comes back once, on one result only: never repeat its line later.
resolved_workspaceNoThe workspace that answered, when the caller named none and the token authorizes several.
conversation_id_noteNoPresent only when the server opened a fresh lane, stating that no choice recorded earlier was read.
conversation_id_sourceNoWhere the conversation id came from: the host's own request meta, the caller's argument, or a fresh lane the server opened.

TDQS

A4.6/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations declare a non-destructive, non-idempotent write; the description adds context annotations cannot express, such as the mandatory draft-first workflow, the default values applied when the user is silent (18:00 end, dark theme, month calendar view), and that a succeeded create never mutates an existing page. It stops short of stating collision/error behavior for a duplicate slug, which would matter for a create with a user-chosen address.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with purpose then immediately the routing rule, and nearly every sentence carries decision-relevant information. It is a dense single block of roughly 250 words, though, with the weekly_hours explanation mid-stream; the calendar/theme defaults could be tightened and sub-structure would aid scanning for a 14-parameter tool.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 14-parameter create with high-stakes workflow dependencies, this covers the required workflow ordering, all format conventions an agent would otherwise get wrong, and the mutate-vs-create boundary. Return values are covered by the existing output schema, and workspace_id/conversation_id/idempotency_key conventions are covered by schema descriptions, so no critical gap remains.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is only 29%, so the description must carry the load and largely does: it explains slug via the /c/<workspace>/<slug> link form with a worked example ('gods' from /c/zachary/gods), member_slug's scope restriction ('pass it only when the user asks to choose that, on their first page'), primary_color's hex requirement and name-to-hex conversion, weekly_hours' day-numbering, HH:MM format, entry-merging rule and break-splitting rule, plus theme and calendar_view defaults. title, location, description and duration_minutes get no explicit treatment, leaving a minor gap against a 14-parameter schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Opens with a specific verb+resource ('Create a booking page') and immediately glosses it as 'the public link where people book a meeting with the user', which disambiguates it from siblings like well_create_schedule, well_create_calendar_event and well_update_booking_page. An agent can identify the target artifact without opening any schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicit routing rules: call well_get_booking_page_draft first when the host can draw cards, call this tool 'only when that result says card_drawn is false or when the user asks in chat to create it now', and an explicit negative rule that an existing page is changed via the draft tool and booking_page_id, 'never by a new create'. This is model when-to-use guidance including alternatives and exclusions.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
