Create several projects or tasks

items_create
DestructiveIdempotent

Create up to 100 projects or tasks, such as an import. Give imported items a source, so running the import again returns the items it already created, marked existing, instead of duplicates. New tasks keep the batch's order at the top of the manual order. A batch the workspace's plan has no room for is refused before any of it is created; get_capabilities reports what remains. Entries apply one at a time, in order, and one failing doesn't stop the rest; results report each entry by index. Retrying with the same requestId skips entries that already succeeded, so after fixing a failed entry resend the whole batch. Item updates require each item's current version from get_tasks, get_items, or get_workspace. Permissions are enforced for the workspace, project, and account.

A4.7/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Adds substantial behavior beyond the annotations: entries apply one at a time in order, one failure does not stop the rest, results are reported per index, an over-quota batch is refused atomically before any write, and same-requestId retries skip already-succeeded entries. It also names the permission scopes enforced (workspace, project, account).

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Six dense sentences, front-loaded with the create/limit fact and then ordered by consequence severity: idempotency, ordering, quota refusal, partial failure, retry, version prerequisites, permissions. No filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description still explains what results look like ('results report each entry by index'), and it covers the failure/retry/quota/permission behaviors an agent needs before calling a batch mutation. Nothing material is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Top-level schema coverage is 0% (neither items nor requestId carries a top-level description), so the description compensates by explaining requestId's idempotent-retry role and items' ordering/limit semantics. The nested item fields are richly documented in the schema itself, so the description does not need to repeat them.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Opens with a specific verb+resource and scope: 'Create up to 100 projects or tasks'. This cleanly distinguishes it from the singular item_create sibling and from items_update, which it also references by name for version prerequisites.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives explicit when-to-use context: supply a source when importing so re-runs dedupe; resend the whole batch with the same requestId after fixing a failed entry; fetch current versions before updates. It does not explicitly contrast against the singular create siblings, so it falls just short of a 5.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
