Recta

What Recta is and how it charges

recta_about
Read-only

Recta is a preflight for AI agents that move stablecoins (and BTC) between blockchains. Before a transfer, the agent asks Recta; Recta reads every route it knows at the same chain state (Across, CCTP, Stargate, USDT0 and others) and returns the cheapest one it can prove, against the route the agent would have used anyway. Recta charges exactly 5 % of the saving it verifies on chain after the agent executes its route. No saving, no charge. No prepayment and no credit: the agent signs, with each decision, a Permit2 authorization capped at max_fee_authorization, and Recta's collection pulls only the verified 5 % (never more than the cap) in USDC on Base; the payer's ledger shows whether each fee has been collected yet (charged). The evaluation itself is free. Returns the full guide (llms.txt).

C2.9/5.0
Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true and openWorldHint=false, so the safety profile is covered. The description adds substantial context about the fee model, Permit2 caps, USDC-on-Base collection and the `charged` ledger flag, but that behavior belongs to the transfer/prepare tools, not to this zero-argument guide fetch, so the added value for this specific tool is limited.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness2/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The single piece of information an agent needs to select this tool is the last sentence; everything before it is product marketing that front-loads the wrong subject. It is also one dense paragraph with no structural separation between product description and tool behavior.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no input schema, no output schema and simple read-only annotations, the definition only needs to say what is returned, and "the full guide (llms.txt)" does that. It remains incomplete on when to prefer it over recta_service_descriptor and on roughly what the guide contains.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The tool takes no parameters, so the baseline applies. The only named field, `max_fee_authorization`, is not a parameter of this tool and is clearly framed as part of the wider flow, so it does not create schema ambiguity.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose3/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The actual action of this tool is buried in the final clause: "Returns the full guide (llms.txt)." Most of the text describes what Recta the product does rather than what recta_about does, and nothing distinguishes it from the sibling recta_service_descriptor, which plausibly serves a similar discovery purpose.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines2/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

There is no explicit statement of when an agent should call this instead of recta_service_descriptor or recta_status. The reader can infer it is an onboarding/documentation call, but the choice among the three discovery-ish siblings is left entirely to inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
