list_ga4_properties

Read-onlyIdempotent

Every GA4 property the caller's connected Google Analytics grant can access — the data source for picking which property to bind to a project (see set_ga4_property). Live call to the Analytics Admin API (accountSummaries.list), not an archive read. Read-only and FREE (no credits). Check requiresReconnect before treating an empty properties list as 'no properties': true means the stored grant can no longer reach Google Analytics.

A4.5/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well beyond the readOnlyHint/idempotentHint/openWorldHint annotations: it discloses that this is a live Admin API call rather than an archive read, that it costs no credits, and — most valuably — that an empty result must be interpreted together with the `requiresReconnect` flag before concluding 'no properties.' That is exactly the kind of operational nuance annotations cannot carry.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three tight sentences, front-loaded with identity and scope, then the live-call/cost note, then the requiresReconnect caveat. No filler and no repetition of the schema.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a one-parameter, no-output-schema read tool, the description supplies everything an agent needs: what is returned conceptually (the accessible property list), that it is a live call, its cost profile, the downstream tool to use it with, and how to disambiguate an empty result. Nothing material is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The single parameter projectId is fully documented in the schema (100% coverage, including where to obtain an ID from list_projects), and the description adds nothing about it. With the schema carrying the entire burden, the baseline of 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource (list every GA4 property accessible to the caller's connected grant) and immediately scopes it against the sibling list tools for other providers (list_ahrefs_projects, list_bing_sites, list_yandex_hosts) by naming Google Analytics and the underlying accountSummaries.list endpoint. An agent can identify this tool without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly frames the tool as 'the data source for picking which property to bind to a project' and points to the follow-up tool set_ga4_property, which gives clear when-to-use context. It stops short of stating when not to call it (e.g., after a property is already bound, or when no GA4 connection exists beyond the requiresReconnect hint), so it lands just below the top band.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
