get_bing_site_overview

Read-onlyIdempotent

Bing's own view of a project's domain: daily search performance (clicks/impressions), per-query stats, own-site inbound links, remaining URL Submission quota, crawl diagnostics (crawl stats, crawl issues, crawl settings), submitted feeds and query-parameter settings — read straight from the Bing Webmaster API. FREE (no credits). Bring-your-own-key: requires the deployment operator to set BING_WEBMASTER_API_KEY (one key covers every site verified on that Bing account — no per-project connect step). Answers { ok: false, reason: 'not_configured' } when unset, or 'no_matching_site' when the project's domain has no verified match on the account. Backlinks here are OWN-SITE ONLY — Bing exposes no competitor/any-domain backlink lookup, so this does not substitute for general backlink research. Per-URL lookups and keyword research have their own tools: get_bing_url_links, get_bing_url_info, get_bing_keyword_research.

TDQS

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare read-only, idempotent, open-world, non-destructive behavior, and the description adds substantial non-redundant context: FREE/no credits, bring-your-own-key auth via BING_WEBMASTER_API_KEY, one key covering all verified sites, no per-project connect step, and the exact failure payloads ({ok:false, reason:'not_configured'} and 'no_matching_site'). These are the operational details an agent needs before calling and cannot get from annotations alone.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

It is a dense block, but it is front-loaded with the core purpose and each sentence carries distinct information (data scope, cost, auth, failure modes, boundaries). A slightly tighter grouping of the auth details could improve it, but nothing is redundant.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description compensates by enumerating returned data categories and documenting configuration failure modes. Combined with full annotation coverage and a fully-described single parameter, an agent has everything needed to invoke it correctly and interpret common failures.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Only one parameter (projectId) exists and schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already carries the meaning including the pointer to list_projects. The description adds nothing specific about projectId beyond what the schema provides, matching the baseline-3 expectation for a fully-covered single param.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description opens with a specific verb+resource frame — 'Bing's own view of a project's domain' — and enumerates the exact data surfaces (daily performance, per-query stats, own-site inbound links, URL submission quota, crawl diagnostics, feeds). It also names the sibling tools it does NOT cover (get_bing_url_links, get_bing_url_info, get_bing_keyword_research), so an agent can separate it from its neighbors immediately.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly routes per-URL lookup and keyword research to their own named tools, and states the own-site-only scope so the agent knows when this does not substitute for general backlink research. The when-to-use context (Bing Webmaster API data for a project's connected domain) is unambiguous.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
