Translate missing listing text

translate_listing_missing

Fills the empty fields and screenshot captions of other listing languages by translating them from one language, in the app's writing style, and saves them in the draft. Text that's already there is never replaced, and an empty title gets the source title. Run it after addLanguages or after writing new text, then check the result with get_listing. One AI call per language, counted against the daily allowance.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
fromNoThe language to translate from. Defaults to English.
appIdYesThe app id from list_apps.
languagesNoOnly these languages. Defaults to every language with empty fields.

TDQS

A4.2/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations present, the description carries the full burden and does well: it discloses non-destructive behavior ('Text that's already there is never replaced'), the empty-title rule, that edits land in the draft (not published), and the cost profile ('One AI call per language, counted against the daily allowance'). Missing permission/auth requirements and failure behavior, so not 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three front-loaded sentences with no filler: purpose first, then the non-destructive rule, then sequencing/verification and cost. Every sentence contributes information an agent needs before invoking.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

No output schema exists, and the description compensates by routing the agent to get_listing for results and explaining that output is written into the draft. It leaves the return payload's shape unstated, but the verification pointer covers the essential gap.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the 'from' parameter and its English default are already documented in the schema. The description reinforces the source-language concept but adds no format or syntax detail beyond it, making the baseline 3 appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: it fills empty fields and screenshot captions of other listing languages by translating from one language and saving into the draft. This distinguishes it clearly from siblings like update_listing or write_release_notes, which set content directly rather than back-filling translations.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete sequencing ('Run it after addLanguages or after writing new text') and names the verification sibling ('check the result with get_listing'). It stops short of stating when *not* to use it (e.g., when no source language content exists), so not a full 5.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
