Speech to text

hubvibe_speech_transcribe
Read-onlyIdempotent

Speech to text / audio transcription: transcribe up to 60 seconds or 10 MB of audio with Google Cloud Speech-to-Text and get the transcript with its confidence and detected language. Use it for voice notes, call snippets and clips. Input: audio_base64; optional language_code. Longer audio is refused before payment. $0.25 per call. Returns: transcript, language_code, confidence, model.

A4.5/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint/idempotentHint, and the description adds non-obvious behavior: the 60s/10MB cap, that over-length input is refused before payment (i.e. no charge on failure), and the $0.25 per-call price. These are exactly the cost/failure traits an agent cannot infer from structured fields.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core capability and limits, then use cases, input contract, pricing, and return shape. Every sentence carries information; no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given an output schema exists, the description need not detail return values, yet it still surfaces the operational constraints (limits, refusal-on-overrun, price) that the schema and annotations do not carry. Nothing critical to correct invocation is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3. The description restates audio_base64 and language_code but never mentions the `language` parameter, which is the only parameter with non-obvious semantics (translating human-readable result strings), so it adds little beyond the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Specific verb (transcribe) plus resource (audio), with the engine (Google Cloud Speech-to-Text) and hard limits (60 seconds / 10 MB) stated. It is unambiguously distinguished from the sibling hubvibe_speech_synthesize, which runs the opposite direction.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Norwag clear use-case context: 'Use it for voice notes, call snippets and clips.' No explicit when-not-to-use or named alternative is given, but the audio-size ceiling and the read-only framing make the applicable context obvious.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
