Raw HTTP fetch

hubvibe_fetch_raw
Read-onlyIdempotent

HTTP fetch / GET any URL: exactly what the server sent, status code, headers and body, plus the final URL after redirects. Every status is a result, so a 404 or 500 from the target is delivered, not failed. Use it for API checks, uptime probes and raw HTML. Input: url. Readable text from a rendered page: extract.page. $0.10 per call. Returns: url, final_url, status, content_type, bytes, text, truncated, headers{}.

languageNoOptional BCP-47 language tag (en, ja, ko, pt-BR): the human-readable strings of the result (notes, details, reasons) are translated into this language; data, codes, numbers and URLs are untouched. Default: as produced.

TDQS

A4.4/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnly/idempotent/destructive=false/openWorld, but the description adds genuinely non-structured behavior: non-2xx statuses are returned as results rather than errors, redirects are followed with final_url reported, and responses may be truncated ($0.10 per call is also disclosed). It does not cover auth requirements or rate limits, so it is strong but not exhaustive beyond the annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action, then behavior, then sibling routing, then cost and return keys. Dense but every clause carries signal (status semantics, redirects, truncation, pricing, return shape), with only the explicit returns list being slightly redundant given the output schema.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 2-param read-only fetch with full annotations and an output schema, the description supplies everything an agent needs: scope, sibling routing, status/redirect/truncation semantics, and cost. No meaningful gap remains.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so both parameters (url, language) are already documented in the schema. The description only restates 'Input: url' and ignores the language parameter, adding no meaning beyond what the schema provides; baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('HTTP fetch / GET any URL') and pins down scope as a raw, unprocessed fetch. It explicitly distinguishes itself from the sibling hubvibe_extract_page ('Readable text from a rendered page: extract.page'), so an agent can route between them without opening a schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete when-to-use cases (API checks, uptime probes, raw HTML) and names the alternative plus the condition that selects it (readable text from a rendered page -> extract.page). Nothing about routing is left to inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
