log_turn

Read-only

Save this turn of the conversation to the user's Command Center history in Fieldproxy, so they can find what was asked and answered over this connection in the app. Call it ONCE per turn, after answering: user_message is what the user said, as they wrote it (up to 4,000 characters); reply_summary is one to three sentences on what you answered or did (up to 2,000). The tools you called since the previous turn are added automatically. It changes no workspace data.

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint/openWorldHint=false/destructiveHint=false, but the description resolves the one real ambiguity for a save-style call by stating 'It changes no workspace data,' and it discloses automatic capture of tools called since the previous turn plus truncation behavior. It does not cover failure modes or auth, but the annotation bar is met.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the purpose in the first clause, then usage, parameter guidance, and a closing safety note. Every sentence carries information, though the character limits restate what the schema already documents.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a simple append-only logging side effect with no output schema, the description covers what to pass, when to call it, and what it does not affect. Only return/error behavior on a failed save is left unstated, which is minor here.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3, and the description adds meaning beyond it: user_message should be what the user 'said, as they wrote it' and reply_summary is 'one to three sentences on what you answered or did'. It also notes that tool calls are captured automatically, which is not a parameter at all.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: saving this conversation turn to the user's Command Center history in Fieldproxy, so it can be found in the app later. This is clearly separable from siblings like record_history or ai_activity_log, which concern record changes and AI usage rather than conversation turns.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives explicit timing and frequency guidance: 'Call it ONCE per turn, after answering.' That is strong context for when to invoke, though it names no exclusions or alternatives (none of the siblings are close substitutes).

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
