Start a Blind Check (for readers of the language)

start_blind_check
Read-only

OPTIONAL lane, only for a user who reads the original language and asks to judge pages themselves: up to five random pages from different books, each with scan, transcription and English. Here the USER is the reviewer: ask for THEIR verdict first, before any opinion of yours, then give your reading with exact quotes, let them accept or reject each point, and call submit_page_review with mode "blind" and their final verdict. Never choose the verdict for them. For everyone else use start_review_shift.

TDQS

A4.5/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnly/destructive hints, but the description adds the interaction protocol that structured fields cannot convey: the USER is the reviewer, their verdict must be requested first, and the agent must never choose the verdict. It does not describe what the tool call itself returns as a handle/session object, which keeps it short of a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the gating condition ("OPTIONAL lane, only for...") before the workflow detail, and every clause carries operational weight. It is a dense run-on, but no sentence is discardable.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

No output schema exists, and the description compensates by stating what each page contains (scan, transcription, English) and the multi-turn flow through submit_page_review. It stops short of describing the immediate return payload or session handling, but nothing critical to correct invocation is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 67%, so the schema already documents pages (1-5, default 5) and language. The description still adds meaning beyond it: pages are random and drawn from different books, and language determines which pages qualify. volunteer_code remains undocumented in both places.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource (start a blind check) and immediately defines the scope: up to five random pages from different books, each with scan, transcription and English. It also names the sibling it replaces for other users (start_review_shift), so the agent can distinguish the two without opening either schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicit when-to-use (only for a user who reads the original language and asks to judge pages themselves) and explicit when-not ("For everyone else use start_review_shift"). It also routes the follow-up call to submit_page_review with mode "blind".

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
