get_shared_calendar_event

Read-only

A race from Garmin's events catalogue by its shareableEventUuid; no subscription needed. GETs /calendar-service/event/{uuid}/shareable: an event from Garmin's public events catalogue (Races & Events -> Find an Event), with locationStartPoint, subscribersCount, provider and subscribed. Works WITHOUT subscribing (subscribed: false). The plain /event/{uuid} is a 404. Events you create never get a shareable uuid (Garmin forces them private).

A4.5/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations only declare readOnlyHint and openWorldHint; the description goes well beyond them by disclosing that no subscription is needed, that the call works with `subscribed: false`, the 404 gotcha on the plain endpoint, and the response fields (locationStartPoint, subscribersCount, provider, subscribed). That is substantial behavioral context for a read tool with no output schema.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The core purpose is front-loaded in the first clause, and the remaining sentences each add a distinct constraint (endpoint, response fields, subscription-free, uuid availability). It is somewhat dense with inline code paths and asides, but nothing is wasted.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description usefully enumerates the notable response fields and the subscription semantics. It omits auth requirements and pagination/error behavior, but for a single-parameter read tool it is close to complete.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 0% and the single parameter is undocumented there, so the description carries the burden. It explains that shareableEventUuid identifies an event in Garmin's public catalogue and — crucially — that events you create never receive one, which materially constrains valid inputs.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource: fetch a race from Garmin's public events catalogue by shareableEventUuid. It explicitly distinguishes this from the private-calendar path by noting the plain `/event/{uuid}` is a 404 and that user-created events never get a shareable uuid, so an agent can tell it apart from `get_calendar_event` without opening a schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives clear context for when this applies (you hold a uuid from the public catalogue, no subscription required) and effectively excludes the sibling case by stating created events are forced private. It stops short of naming `get_calendar_event` as the alternative for private events, leaving that inference to the agent.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
