set_variable
Set a NON-SECRET configuration value a project's Functions read at runtime, as req.env['KEY'].
Variables are stored and returned in plain text — that is the point of them not being secrets. Anything that must not be readable (an API key, an OAuth token) belongs in set_secret instead.
This sets the project DEFAULT. A tenant can override any key for itself by calling the project's own REST API; those overrides are not reachable from here, because this MCP is scoped to the platform project.
Input Schema
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| key | Yes | Name as the Function sees it. Cannot begin AWS_ or AALY_ — those would shadow the runtime's own environment. | |
| value | Yes | The value, in plain text. | |
| project_id | No | Project these variables apply to. Optional if whoami returned a default_project_id. | |
| description | No | What this variable is for. Shown to whoever has to set it. |
