Handover Accept

handover_accept
Idempotent

Pick up readable handed-over work and get its private continuation thread. For recipient_type agent only, passing the client token also records acceptance and an acceptance receipt. Otherwise this only picks up work; the client decision remains pending. Creator authority is rejected even with a client token. Free, no quota. Private handovers require their access token. Required arguments: handover_id.

Input Schema

TDQS

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations declare readOnlyHint=false but destructiveHint=false and idempotentHint=true; the description adds real context on top: acceptance/receipt side effects, the recipient-only eligibility rule, creator-authority rejection, access-token requirement for private handovers, and that calls are free with no quota. It stops short of covering repeat/invalid-handover behavior.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Four dense, front-loaded sentences with the core action first and the conditional caveats after. The closing 'Required arguments: handover_id' is redundant with the schema's required list, a small wasted line.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

An output schema exists, so return values need no explanation; the description instead covers the side-effect and authorization model, which is the right allocation. Error paths (unreadable, expired, or already-accepted handovers) are not addressed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 70%, so most parameters are already documented in the schema, and the description mainly restates that handover_id is required. It does add that private handovers need their access token and ties token/client_token to the acceptance semantics, but leaves the underscore-prefixed continuity parameters unexplained.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a concrete verb and resource: pick up handed-over work and retrieve its private continuation thread. The conditional acceptance semantics further sharpen what the call does. It is distinguishable from handover_list/handover_status by implication, but no sibling is named explicitly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives explicit when-conditions (recipient_type agent plus client token records acceptance) and when-not (otherwise the client decision stays pending), plus a hard exclusion (creator authority is rejected). It never routes to an alternative sibling such as handover_status or handover_list, which keeps it short of a 5.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
