mlpeek: reduce speech noise

denoise_audio
Idempotent

mlpeek: Reduce background noise in speech audio. Returns mono 12 kHz WAV/MP3/Ogg speech audio with steady noise reduced by FFmpeg afftdn (no model weights), duration and filter. Public URL or base64, up to 25 MB and 10 minutes; base64 or output=url. Not voice isolation; music and changing noise may remain, and speech may sound altered. Exact/credits are flat; upto bills started minutes after a 0.25 s tolerance, minimum one. A missing processor is a 503 processor_unavailable; failed jobs are not charged. Typically 1-20 s. Price: USD 0.02. No free tier. Audio is not logged; it is written to private scratch files deleted after the call; only output "url" keeps the result (24 h). TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes far beyond the annotations: discloses flat pricing vs upto billing with 0.25s tolerance and minimum-one charge, 503 processor_unavailable handling, no-charge on failure, 1-20s latency, no audio logging, scratch-file deletion, and 24h retention for url output. This is exactly the behavioral context annotations don't carry.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with purpose, but the body is a dense telegraphed run-on of pricing, retention, error, and timing fragments that is hard to parse. Most facts earn their place individually, but the structure sacrifices readability for density.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With an output schema present and full parameter coverage, the description still supplies the operational context an agent needs: cost, limits, error semantics, latency, and data-retention behavior. Nothing material is missing for correct invocation.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3. The description restates the url/base64 source choice and output=url retention, which largely duplicates what the schema already documents rather than adding new parameter meaning.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Reduce background noise in speech audio') and immediately delimits scope with 'Not voice isolation', which distinguishes it from other audio siblings like transcribe_audio. An agent can tell what it does and what it doesn't without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides clear context (steady noise on speech, source via public URL or base64, size/duration limits) and an explicit when-not ('Not voice isolation; music and changing noise may remain'), but does not name a sibling or alternative for those excluded cases. Clear usage but no routing to alternatives.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
