imagepeek: add a text watermark to an image

image_watermark
Idempotent

imagepeek: Add a text watermark to an image. For PDFs use pdf_watermark. Returns the image with a text watermark (1-200 printable characters, DejaVu Sans Mono) at one of 9 positions, or tiled in a staggered grid, with opacity, font_size (default 5% of the short side), color, angle and margin; text larger than the image is shrunk to fit. Reads PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, BMP, ICO and AVIF; other formats and images over 40 megapixels are refused (not charged). Output: base64 data_base64, without EXIF, GPS, XMP or IPTC; over 15 MB or 50 megapixels is a 413 (not charged). Images are not logged; a result is kept only with output "url" (24 h). Typically 0.5-2 s. Price: USD 0.002. Free: 3 imagepeek calls per IP per UTC day. Docs: https://tanod.dev/learn/image-watermark-api.html

A4.4/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well past the annotations: pricing (USD 0.002), free tier (3 calls/IP/UTC day), latency (0.5-2 s), refusal thresholds (unsupported formats, >40 MP, >15 MB or >50 MP returns 413) with explicit "not charged" notes, metadata stripping, privacy (images not logged) and 24 h retention for `url` output. This is exactly the operational context an agent needs before calling a metered service.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with purpose and the PDF alternative, then dense but relevant constraints. It is a single long semicolon-chained passage, which makes it harder to scan than a bulleted or multi-sentence layout, but almost every clause carries real information.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 14-parameter metered image tool with an output schema, everything an agent needs is present: input sourcing, format limits, cost, free quota, failure modes and where the output lands. Return-value details are legitimately delegated to the output schema.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents every parameter including defaults, ranges and enums. The description restates the key ones (text 1-200 printable, 9 positions vs. tile, opacity/font_size/color/angle/margin) and adds the useful shrink-to-fit rule, but adds little syntax the schema does not already carry. Baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ("Add a text watermark to an image") and immediately names the sibling case it is not for ("For PDFs use pdf_watermark"). An agent can pick this over other image siblings without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly routes PDF work elsewhere and states the accepted input formats, so eligibility is clear. What is missing is guidance relative to the other image_* siblings (e.g. when to watermark vs. convert/resize), but the routing condition is stated rather than implied.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
