Whova: Add attendee

whova_add_attendee

Whova: Create or update one attendee by name and email. Creates the attendee, or updates the one with the same email. The attendee appears in the event's attendee list. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.7/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=false, openWorldHint=true, destructiveHint=false, so the safety profile is partly covered. The description goes further by disclosing the upsert-by-email behavior, the default per-call confirmation and its opt-out, and that the action 'reaches other people' (external visibility), all of which add real context beyond annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Purpose is front-loaded in the first sentence and each subsequent sentence adds a distinct fact. There is mild redundancy in the two confirmation-related sentences ('you confirm each call' and 'confirm with the user before each call'), which slightly dilutes an otherwise efficient structure.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutating, open-world tool with no output schema, the description covers the write semantics, external visibility, confirmation requirement, and auth needs. With 100% schema coverage for params and no output schema required, an agent has enough to invoke it correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema fully documents all 8 parameters. The description only echoes name and email and adds no format, constraint, or default detail beyond what the schema provides, so the baseline of 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource ('Create or update one attendee by name and email') and clarifies the upsert semantics ('Creates the attendee, or updates the one with the same email'). It does not explicitly name a sibling like whova_list_attendees, so the differentiation is implied rather than stated.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage guidance is present but focused on confirmation behavior ('By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off') rather than on when to select this tool over alternatives such as whova_update_session or list tools. It implies a write/add use case without explicit exclusions.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
