Vagaro: Cancel appointment

vagaro_cancel_appointment

Vagaro: Cancel a client's appointment from the calendar, optionally notifying the client. Cancels one appointment, as Change Status then Cancel does on the Vagaro calendar. Set notify_client to tell the client. Refunds of prepayments and cancellation fees are not part of this tool; handle those in Vagaro. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Adds rich context beyond the annotations: optional client notification, exclusion of refunds and cancellation fees, default per-call confirmation (that can be switched off), the fact that it reaches other people requiring user confirmation, and the required Cotlet API key with app access. None of this is derivable from the readOnlyHint/openWorldHint/destructiveHint triple.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Purpose is front-loaded in the first clause and every sentence carries operational value. It is slightly verbose with several meta sentences (confirmation toggle, API key), but nothing is idle filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 2-param cancel tool with full schema coverage, annotations, and no output schema, the description covers purpose, side effects, confirmation, and auth requirements. Return values are unnecessary to describe since no output schema exists, leaving only minor room for improvement.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100% and both parameters are documented there (notify_client's default and appointment_id's origin from list_appointments). The description's 'Set notify_client to tell the client' essentially restates the schema rather than adding format or edge-case meaning, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Cancel a client's appointment') with scope ('Cancels one appointment') and context ('from the calendar'). An agent can distinguish it from vagaro_reschedule_appointment and vagaro_book_appointment without inspecting either schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives clear context for use ('Cancels one appointment, as Change Status then Cancel does on the Vagaro calendar') and explicitly excludes refunds/fees, routing those out of the tool. It stops short of naming alternative sibling tools for adjacent operations, so no explicit when-not/alternative routing is provided.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
