Tradify: Send quote

tradify_send_quote

Tradify: Approve the quote and email it to the customer with a link to accept or decline online. Approves a draft quote and emails it to the customer with a link to accept or decline online. The email text defaults to your quote email template. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.8/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond annotations, the description discloses that it approves a draft quote, emails the customer a link to accept or decline, defaults to the quote email template, confirms each call by default (optionally switchable), reaches other people, and requires a Cotlet API key with app access. These details cover preconditions, side effects, external impact, and auth needs.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The purpose is front-loaded, but the first two sentences are nearly identical ('Approve the quote and email it...' and 'Approves a draft quote and emails it...'), which is wasted repetition. The remaining sentences are useful but the redundancy prevents a higher score.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutating external-communication tool with no output schema, the description covers preconditions (draft quote), side effects (email with accept/decline link), confirmation policy, auth requirements, and external reach. It does not describe return values or error cases, which keeps it from being fully complete.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3. The description only echoes the message parameter's default email template and adds no new meaning for quote_id or send_me_a_copy beyond what the schema already documents.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource: approve the quote and email it to the customer with an accept/decline link. It clearly distinguishes this as a send/approval action, but it never names or contrasts sibling tools like tradify_create_quote or tradify_send_invoice, so sibling differentiation is left implicit.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied by the purpose and the note about confirming each call, but there is no explicit guidance on when to choose this tool versus alternatives such as tradify_send_invoice or tradify_create_quote. The confirmation and API key notes are operational context, not selection guidance.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
