ThriveCart: Approve affiliate

thrivecart_approve_affiliate

ThriveCart: Approve or reject a pending affiliate application for one or more products. Approves or rejects an affiliate for the products you name. Approving needs a pending application for each of them. An affiliate approved for the main product is also approved for the upsells and downsells of its funnel. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond annotations (readOnlyHint=false, openWorldHint=true, destructiveHint=false) it discloses the funnel cascade side effect (approving the main product approves upsells/downsells), the confirmation requirement, the reach-other-people warning, and the Cotlet API key auth need. This is rich behavioral context the annotations do not carry.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Purpose is front-loaded and the operational warnings follow. Minor redundancy between 'Approve or reject a pending affiliate application' and 'Approves or rejects an affiliate for the products you name' costs a point.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutation tool with no output schema, the description covers prerequisites, cascade side effects, confirmation, and auth. Return values are not described, but no output schema exists so that is not a gap.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so all four parameters are already documented, including the decision enum and the affiliate_id source. The description adds the funnel-cascade meaning of product_ids but nothing about trigger_emails or format details, so baseline 3 is correct.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb pair (approve/reject) and resource (pending affiliate application) plus the scope (one or more products). An agent can immediately distinguish it from thrivecart_list_affiliates and other ThriveCart siblings.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives real prerequisites ('Approving needs a pending application for each of them') and confirmation guidance ('By default you confirm each call... confirm with the user before each call'). It stops short of explicitly routing to thrivecart_list_affiliates as the source of affiliate_id, though the schema covers that.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
