Teachers Pay Teachers: Upload revised file

teachers-pay-teachers_upload_revised_file

Teachers Pay Teachers: Replace the product file and optionally notify past buyers with a note on what changed. Replaces the file buyers download. With notify_buyers set, past buyers are notified on their My Purchases page, and change_note tells them what changed. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well beyond the annotations by disclosing that the action reaches other people (buyers get notified on My Purchases), states the human-confirmation expectation, and names the auth requirement (Cotlet API key with app access). These are exactly the open-world side effects an agent needs and are not captured by readOnlyHint/openWorldHint alone.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads the core action and keeps the confirmation/auth notes at the end where they belong. Slightly repetitive with the 'Teachers Pay Teachers:' prefix mirroring the title and two sentences restating the file replacement, but each sentence carries distinct information.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutation tool with no output schema, the description covers side effects, auth, and confirmation requirements well. Minor gaps remain around error/rollback behavior and the fact that the replacement is effectively irreversible for prior downloads, which the destructiveHint=false annotation does not clarify.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents all four parameters. The description restates notify_buyers/change_note behavior but adds no syntax or format detail beyond what the schema provides, so the baseline of 3 is appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (replace) and resource (the product file buyers download), and identifies the optional side effect (notify past buyers). An agent can distinguish this from sibling update_product, which edits metadata rather than the delivered file.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives clear operational context: notify_buyers is optional, change_note pairs with it, and the call should be confirmed with the user. It stops short of explicitly contrasting with update_product or naming when a revision is warranted vs a metadata edit, so it is clear context without full routing guidance.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
