SoundCloud: Create playlist

soundcloud_create_playlist

SoundCloud: New playlist from your tracks. Private by default, with a secret link. Creates a playlist from your tracks in the order you give. It is private by default and the response includes its secret link; anyone with that link can listen. Private tracks in a public playlist are not visible to listeners. create_playlist reaches no one until you share the link and is undone by deleting the playlist in SoundCloud, so it runs without asking first. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

TDQS

A4.2/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations only say it is a non-read-only, non-destructive, open-world write. The description goes well beyond that: privacy default, that a secret link is returned and grants listen access, that private tracks stay hidden inside public playlists, and that the action is reversible by deleting the playlist. This is exactly the behavioral context an agent needs for a mutation.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The privacy-by-default and secret-link facts are stated twice ('Private by default, with a secret link' then 'It is private by default and the response includes its secret link'). Front-loading is good, but the redundancy costs it. It is also slightly long for a four-parameter create tool.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Covers the operation, privacy semantics, sharing consequences, reversibility, and auth requirement, which is enough for an agent to call it correctly. It omits any mention of error conditions or track-ID source (e.g., from list_tracks), a minor gap for a no-output-schema tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so title, privacy enum, track_ids, and description are already documented. The description adds only that track order follows the given order and that privacy defaults to private, which lightly reinforces but does not materially extend the schema. Baseline 3 is appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Creates a playlist from your tracks in the order you give') and there is no sibling named create_playlist to confuse it with. The opening line plus the concrete ordering detail make the operation unambiguous.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides clear operating context: it is private by default, reaches no one until the link is shared, and 'runs without asking first.' However, it never names when to prefer it over related SoundCloud tools (e.g., upload_track, set_track_privacy) or states prerequisites beyond the API key.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
