SiteMinder: Get inventory

siteminder_get_inventory
Read-only

SiteMinder: The inventory grid for a date range: rates, availability and restrictions per room rate and channel. Returns what the inventory grid shows, one row per date: rate, availability and restrictions for each room rate. Pass channel to see the values sent to one channel instead. SiteMinder shows only today and future dates here. A dash in the grid, returned as null, means the channel rate does not support that data. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

TDQS

A3.7/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true and destructiveHint=false, so the safety profile is covered. The description adds real behavioral context beyond that: one row per date, the date restriction, the dash-as-null convention, and the API-key/access requirement.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded and readable, but redundant: 'rates, availability and restrictions per room rate' appears in the opening sentence and is restated almost verbatim in the second ('rate, availability and restrictions for each room rate'). It could be tightened by one sentence.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description carries the burden of describing the return shape and does so (rows per date, per room rate, null for unsupported channel data). Auth requirement and date scoping are also covered, leaving only channel/room filtering interaction slightly under-explained.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With 100% schema coverage the baseline is 3, but the description adds meaning beyond the schema by explaining channel semantics ('Pass channel to see the values sent to one channel instead') and the null/dash behavior tied to channel rate data. The from/to constraints are also echoed.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('The inventory grid for a date range') and describes contents (rates, availability, restrictions per room rate and channel). It is clear what the tool returns, but it does not explicitly differentiate itself from sibling readers like siteminder_list_room_rates.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives useful scope guidance ('SiteMinder shows only today and future dates here'), which tells the agent a When constraint. However, it never names a sibling alternative or states when NOT to use this versus the other siteminder list/get tools, leaving selection to inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
