Rently: Set self-touring

rently_set_self_touring

Rently: Turn self-touring on or off for a property or unit, e.g. once it is leased. Turns self-guided tours on or off for one property or unit. Set enabled to false when a home is leased and true to open it again. It changes no data of renters and one call undoes it, so it runs without asking first. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.8/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Adds real behavioral value beyond the annotations: it is reversible ('one call undoes it'), does not touch renter data, and therefore runs without confirmation, plus it requires a Cotlet API key with access to this app. These claims are consistent with destructiveHint=false and readOnlyHint=false, though rate limits or publication prerequisites are not covered.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action, but the opening two sentences say the same thing twice and the 'Rently:' prefix is redundant with the title. The remaining sentences (reversibility, auth) earn their place, but a quarter of the text is duplication.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a two-parameter boolean toggle with no output schema and light annotations, the description covers the essential context: what changes, reversibility, confirmation policy, and auth requirements. The only gap is that it does not position the tool against the sibling self-tour invite tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents both parameters; this is the baseline 3. The description does add practical semantics for enabled (false when leased, true to reopen), but property_id adds nothing beyond the schema's 'ID from list_properties'.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Turn self-touring on or off for a property or unit'), so an agent knows precisely what it does. However, it never differentiates from the nearby sibling rently_send_self_tour_invite, and the purpose is restated twice ('Turn self-touring on or off...' / 'Turns self-guided tours on or off...'), which dilutes rather than sharpens it.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete when-to-use context: set enabled to false once a home is leased and true to reopen it. That tells the agent the trigger conditions ('e.g. once it is leased'). It stops short of naming alternatives or exclusions, so it is clear context without routing guidance.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
