Patreon: Update tier

patreon_update_tier

Patreon: Change a tier's name, description or benefits. Edits the fields at the top of the tier editor: name, description and benefits. Members see the change on your page. Prices are not changed by this tool. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.8/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the annotations (readOnly=false, openWorld=true, destructive=false) it discloses the public-facing impact ('Members see the change on your page'), the mutation boundary (prices untouched), a confirmation requirement with an opt-out, and an auth prerequisite (Cotlet API key with app access). It stops short of stating reversibility or any rate limit, keeping it at a strong 4.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded and mostly efficient, but the field list is stated twice in consecutive sentences ('name, description or benefits' then 'name, description and benefits'), and the confirmation sentences read as generic templated boilerplate. Tightening would remove real redundancy.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutation tool with no output schema, it covers impact, auth, and the confirmation workflow, and the annotations carry the safety profile. It is nearly complete; only the return/confirmation result shape and reversibility are unaddressed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so baseline is 3. The description mirrors the schema's field list ('name, description and benefits') and adds that these sit 'at the top of the tier editor,' which is marginal contextual value rather than new syntax or format detail.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Change a tier's name, description or benefits') and scopes it further by naming the exact editable fields. It self-differentiates from siblings by declaring what it does NOT touch ('Prices are not changed'), which lets an agent separate it from other tier/pricing operations without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description gives operational context (per-call confirmation, opt-out) and an implicit scope exclusion ('Prices are not changed') but never names an alternative tool or states when to prefer it. Usage is only implied rather than routed against siblings like patreon_list_tiers or a hypothetical pricing tool.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
