Meetup: Update attendee

meetup_update_attendee

Meetup: Mark a member as attending, remove them, or move them off the waitlist. Changes the RSVP of one member for one event. Moving off the waitlist needs a free spot under the attendee limit. The member sees the change. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.8/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=false, destructiveHint=false, openWorldHint=true, and the description adds genuinely new context: the member sees the change, the move-from-waitlist precondition, that confirmation is on by default but switchable, and that the call reaches other people. That is meaningful disclosure beyond the structured fields, with no contradiction of the annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the three actions, followed by scope, precondition, and safety/confirmation notes. Slightly repetitive in that confirmation is mentioned twice ('By default you confirm each call' and 'confirm with the user before each call'), costing a bit of tightness.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a three-parameter mutation tool with no output schema and full annotation coverage, the description covers what changes, side effects on the member, preconditions, confirmation behavior, and auth needs. The only material gap is differentiation from meetup_mark_attendance.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so baseline is 3, but the description adds a constraint not present in the schema: moving off the waitlist requires a free spot under the attendee limit. That extra semantic constraint justifies going above baseline for the action parameter.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States precise verbs (mark attending, remove, move off waitlist) and the exact scope: one member's RSVP for one event. It is distinguishable from list/message siblings, though it does not address the near-duplicate meetup_mark_attendance, leaving some ambiguity about which to pick for a plain attendance mark.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives the precondition for the waitlist move (a free spot under the attendee limit) and the confirmation/API-key requirements, which is real usage context. However, it never routes the agent explicitly to or away from alternatives such as meetup_mark_attendance, so the choice between overlapping tools is left to inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
