Meetup: Copy event

meetup_copy_event

Meetup: Copy a past event to a new date, keeping its description, venue and settings. Creates a new event from an existing one with the same description, venue and settings, at a new start time. It is a draft unless publish is true. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.8/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well beyond the annotations (readOnlyHint=false, openWorldHint=true) by disclosing that the result is a draft unless publish=true, that each call triggers a confirmation prompt by default, that the action reaches other people, and that a scoped Cotlet API key is required. These are concrete, non-obvious behaviors for a write tool. It does not describe the response shape, which keeps it short of a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Purpose is front-loaded, but the text repeats itself ('keeping its description, venue and settings' / 'with the same description, venue and settings'). The confirmation and API-key boilerplate extends the length without adding much beyond the standard safety framing.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutation tool with no output schema and full annotation coverage, the description supplies the key behavioral facts (draft default, confirmation, reach, auth). Nothing critical for correct invocation is missing, though it does not clarify what the copy response returns (e.g. new event ID).

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents title, publish, event_id and start_time. The description reinforces publish/draft semantics and that description, venue and settings carry over, but adds no new parameter syntax or format detail beyond the schema baseline.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Copy a past event to a new date') and pins the scope to copying an existing event rather than authoring one, which distinguishes it from meetup_create_event and meetup_update_event. An agent can identify the operation without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied ('Copy a past event to a new date') but no sibling is named as an alternative and there is no explicit when/when-not guidance relative to meetup_create_event or meetup_update_event. The draft/publish note hints at intent but does not route between tools.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
