Mangomint: Book appointment

mangomint_book_appointment

Mangomint: Book one or more services for a client with a staff member. Books the services in the order given, back to back, for one client with one staff member at the start time. The staff member must be on the schedule and free for the full length. Returns the appointment with start and end. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

TDQS

A3.7/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=false and destructiveHint=false, and the description adds valuable context beyond them: it states the return value (appointment with start and end), the default confirmation behavior, the ability to disable confirmation, the need to confirm because it 'reaches other people,' and the API key requirement. It stops short of describing failure modes or error behavior when the staff member is unavailable.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The purpose is front-loaded and the description is reasonably tight, with each sentence contributing operational detail. The confirmation instructions are slightly repetitive ('By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off' and 'confirm with the user before each call'), which keeps it from being maximally concise.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutation tool with no output schema, the description covers the critical missing pieces: return value, booking mechanics, prerequisites, confirmation behavior, and auth requirements. It is nearly complete, though it could say what happens on failure or when the requested slot is unavailable.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already fully documents parameters. The description adds marginal meaning by clarifying that services are booked in the given order and back-to-back for the full length, but it does not add syntax or format details beyond the schema, making the baseline 3 appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb (Book) and resource (services for a client with a staff member) and explains the booking semantics (back-to-back, order given, start time). It does not explicitly name or distinguish itself from sibling tools like mangomint_reschedule_appointment or mangomint_book_from_waitlist, so it falls short of the top score for sibling differentiation.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It provides prerequisites (staff must be on schedule and free for full length) and a confirmation policy, but it never states when to use this tool versus alternatives such as reschedule or waitlist booking. Usage is implied rather than explicitly guided.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
