Libsyn: Schedule episode

libsyn_schedule_episode

Libsyn: Release a draft at a set time to every destination your show is connected to. Sets a release time for a draft. At that time Libsyn publishes it to every destination the show is connected to, such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. release_at needs a time zone. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.6/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already flag openWorldHint=true and readOnlyHint=false; the description adds genuinely useful context: the release propagates to all connected destinations (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube), release_at requires a time zone, the call reaches other people and needs user confirmation, and the API key must have app access. This goes beyond the annotations, though it doesn't describe failure modes or what happens if the scheduled time is in the past.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action, but the first three sentences are redundant — 'Release a draft at a set time', 'Sets a release time for a draft', and 'At that time Libsyn publishes it to every destination' restate the same idea. The confirmation and API-key notes are useful but the repetition dilutes efficiency.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 2-parameter tool with a fully documented schema and no output schema, the description supplies the essentials: what it does, the external propagation, the confirmation/auth requirements, and a time-zone caveat. Return-value behavior is not needed since no output schema exists; only edge cases (e.g., past times, failures) are unaddressed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so both required parameters are already documented (episode_id from list_episodes, release_at as ISO 8601 with time zone). The description reinforces the time-zone requirement for release_at but adds no syntax or format detail beyond the schema, matching the baseline 3.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Release a draft at a set time', 'Sets a release time for a draft') and names the external effect (publishes to every connected destination). It implicitly contrasts with an immediate publish, though it does not explicitly name the sibling libsyn_publish_episode, so it falls just short of full sibling differentiation.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied — use this when you want a draft to go out at a future time rather than immediately — and it lists prerequisites (draft episode, API key with app access, confirmation before each call). However, it never explicitly states when to choose this over publish_episode or update_episode, so the agent must infer the alternative.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
