Houzz Pro: Log time

houzz-pro_log_time

Houzz Pro: Time entry on a project; rate, markup and billable status come from the activity. Adds a time entry to a project. The activity sets rate, markup and taxable or billable status. By default the entry is yours; logging for another team member needs the Time Management permission. If time approval is on, the entry waits for approval. Entries linked to an issued invoice cannot be changed. Reaches no client, so it runs without asking. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A4.2/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations only declare write/open-world/non-destructive; the description carries far more: entries linked to an issued invoice cannot be changed (an immutability constraint), the approval-gated workflow, the required permission for third-party logging, and that it reaches no client. This is exactly the behavioral context annotations cannot express.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads the action, but sentence 1 and sentence 3 both state that the activity sets rate/markup/billable status, which is redundant. The "Reaches no client, so it runs without asking" tail is loosely worded, so the entry is longer than it needs to be.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description does the work of explaining effects, permissions, approval gating and the no-client reach. It covers what an agent needs to call the tool correctly, though pagination/return-format detail is absent and unnecessary here.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3. The description adds meaning by explaining that the activity drives rate/markup/taxable status and that team_member defaults to the caller and requires Time Management permission, slightly exceeding what the schema states.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ("Adds a time entry to a project") and adds distinguishing scope (rate, markup and billable status come from the activity). An agent can immediately tell this logs time rather than creating tasks, invoices or leads within the houzz-pro suite.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides conditional context (defaults to your own entry; logging for another member needs Time Management permission; approval workflow). However, it never names an alternative tool or states explicit when-not-to-use conditions, so routing guidance is implied rather than delivered.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
