Hostelworld: List payouts

hostelworld_list_payouts
Read-only

Hostelworld: PayNow payouts from Property Setup > Finance > Pay Now: date, status, amount, masked bank account, plus balance and next payout date. Manager users only. Returns the Payouts tab: total balance, estimated next payout date and each payout with date, status, masked destination and amount. Status is initiated, in transit or completed. Only Manager user accounts in Inbox can view PayNow. Pass payout_id to get_payout. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.8/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint/openWorldHint/destructiveHint, so the safety profile is covered. The description adds meaningful non-annotation context: Manager-only access, Inbox restriction, required Cotlet API key with app access, and the enumerated status values. This goes beyond what the structured fields convey, though it omits pagination behavior.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The return-field list is effectively stated twice ('date, status, amount, masked bank account, plus balance and next payout date' then 'total balance, estimated next payout date and each payout with date, status, masked destination and amount'), and the Manager-only constraint is repeated. Content is front-loaded but contains redundant sentences that dilute it.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description carries the return-value burden and does so adequately (balance, next payout date, per-payout fields, status vocabulary). Auth requirements and sibling routing are covered. Missing only pagination/volume expectations for a list endpoint.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100% and the date/enum parameters are already documented there. The description restates the status values (initiated, in transit, completed) without adding syntax or edge-case meaning for to/from beyond what the schema provides, so the baseline 3 is appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a concrete verb+resource (list payouts) and even names what the response contains (balance, next payout date, per-payout fields). It explicitly distinguishes itself from the sibling get_payout ('Pass payout_id to get_payout'). It does not differentiate from other list-type siblings, but the core purpose is unambiguous.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides clear context: PayNow payouts under Property Setup > Finance > Pay Now, restricted to Manager users in Inbox, and routing to get_payout for a single payout by ID. No explicit 'when not to use' beyond the sibling pointer, but the usage envelope is well defined.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
