Dext: List items

dext_list_items
Read-only

Dext: Items in the Costs or Sales inbox or Archive with status, supplier, date and total, newest first. Lists items from one inbox, newest first. Status is processing, to_review, ready or archived, the sections of the Dext Inbox. Items in to_review miss a Category, Supplier or Total amount. Pages hold up to 100 items; pass next_cursor back as cursor. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

TDQS

A3.7/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnly/destructive/openWorld safety, so the description adds value by disclosing pagination mechanics (100-item pages, pass next_cursor as cursor), the meaning of to_review (missing Category, Supplier or Total), and the Cotlet API key requirement. Return shape and rate limits remain unstated.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded and readable, but redundant: 'newest first' appears twice, and the full status enumeration duplicates the schema enum verbatim. Several phrases could be trimmed without loss.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a read-only list tool with full schema coverage and no output schema, the description covers filters, ordering, pagination, status semantics, and auth. Adequate; only the absence of explicit alternative-tool routing keeps it short of complete.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With 100% schema coverage the baseline is 3, and the description goes beyond it: it explains what the to_review status implies about incomplete fields, and describes the cursor round-trip (next_cursor back as cursor) and page size cap, tying the parameters to the working flow.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a clear verb+resource (lists items), specifies scope (Costs or Sales inbox or Archive), and enumerates the fields returned plus ordering (newest first). An agent can distinguish it from dext_get_item and dext_export_items, though no sibling is named explicitly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Conveys context (one inbox, newest first, filters by status/supplier/date) and the pagination flow, but never states when to choose this over dext_get_item, dext_export_items, or the archive tools. Usage is implied rather than directed.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
