Bandcamp: List merch items

bandcamp_list_merch_items
Read-only

Bandcamp: Merch items with price, SKU, quantity sold and quantity available, per option. Lists the merch on your account with price, SKU, how many were sold and how many are available. Items with sizes or colors list each option. Quantities are kept per shipping origin. An item with no limit shows quantity_available as null. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A3.6/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint/destructiveHint/openWorld, so the safety profile is covered; the description goes further by disclosing per-option expansion for sized/colored items, that quantities are tracked per shipping origin, and that unlimited items return quantity_available as null. That null semantics detail is exactly the kind of non-obvious behavior an agent needs.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

It is front-loaded and the first sentence is strong, but the opening two sentences restate the same field list twice ('price, SKU, quantity sold and quantity available' vs. 'price, SKU, how many were sold and how many are available'), which is wasted space for an otherwise short definition.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

No output schema exists, so the description carries the return-shape burden and does so reasonably well (fields, per-option rows, shipping-origin scoping, null convention) plus the auth prerequisite. Missing pagination or result-size behavior is the only notable gap for a read-only list tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100% and the single parameter low_stock_below is documented in the schema, so the baseline is 3. The description's note about quantity_available being null for unlimited items loosely relates to that filter but never clarifies how unlimited items behave under low_stock_below, so it adds no real parameter meaning.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description gives a specific verb (Lists) and resource (merch on your account) and enumerates the returned fields (price, SKU, quantity sold/available), which is clear enough to separate it from order-oriented siblings. It never names an alternative tool, so it falls short of the sibling-differentiation bar for a 5.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied (inspect your merch inventory and stock levels) and one prerequisite is stated (a Cotlet API key with access to this app). However there is no explicit when-to-use vs. when-not guidance and no reference to siblings like bandcamp_list_merch_orders, so the agent must infer routing.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
