Bandcamp: Generate track/album codes

bandcamp_generate_track_album_codes

Bandcamp: New batch of one-use codes fans redeem for a download, counted against your code allowance. Creates a batch of track/album codes for a release you choose. Codes come in multiples of 100 with a minimum of 100 per batch, never expire, and count against the code allowance shown on your Tools page. The batch name is private to you. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool. Reaches other people: confirm with the user before each call. Needs the user's Cotlet API key with access to this app.

A4/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the annotations, the description discloses that codes are one-use, come in multiples of 100 with a 100 minimum, never expire, and consume the account code allowance — real side-effect information for a mutation. It also adds confirmation behavior ('confirm each call'), an explicit warning that the action 'Reaches other people', and the auth requirement (Cotlet API key with app access).

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Content is front-loaded with the outcome, but the opening clause ('New batch of one-use codes fans redeem for a download, counted against your code allowance') is largely restated by the next sentence ('Creates a batch of track/album codes...') and the allowance rule reappears later. The redundancy dilutes an otherwise well-ordered description.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a write tool with no output schema, it covers what an agent needs to call it safely: allowance cost, expiry behavior, confirmation policy, outbound-reach warning, and auth prerequisites. Only the routing question (why this tool instead of creating a discount code) is left unaddressed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% with all three parameters described in the schema (count multiples of 100, batch_name private label, release_id from list_releases). The description reinforces the count rule and batch-name privacy but adds no format or syntax meaning beyond what the schema already carries, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

It states a specific verb+resource: 'Creates a batch of track/album codes for a release you choose.' The generate-vs-list distinction is clear, letting an agent separate it from siblings like bandcamp_list_track_album_codes and bandcamp_create_discount_code without opening a schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description establishes context ('fans redeem for a download', code allowance consumption) but never explicitly names when to use this over alternatives such as create_discount_code or list_track_album_codes. Usage is implied by the code-batch scenario rather than stated as a routing rule.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
