Share flow

share_flow
Idempotent

Create or refresh a public read-only link anyone can open for a Wavelength flow, with no account needed. Optionally include a summary shown on the public page. hide_attribution is Pro only and the server enforces it. Returns the public url, slug, and is_public flag. Also returns embed_image_url, a live SVG image of the flow that updates when the flow changes, and embed_markdown, ready to paste into Notion, Confluence, GitHub, or any Markdown page.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
flow_idYesThe id of the flow to share.
summaryNoOptional summary shown on the public page, up to 300 characters.
hide_attributionNoOptional. Hide the Wavelength attribution on the public page. Pro only; the server enforces the plan limit.

TDQS

A4.4/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the annotations (readOnlyHint=false, idempotentHint=true, openWorldHint=true), it discloses that the link is public with no account required, that hide_attribution is plan-gated and server-enforced, and what the response contains. That is substantial behavioral context the annotations alone cannot convey.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action and scope, then the return payload. It is slightly long with two sentences devoted to return artifacts, but each carries real information given there is no output schema.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description compensates by enumerating the returned fields (url, slug, is_public, embed_image_url, embed_markdown) and explaining their behavior (live SVG updates, paste targets). An agent has everything needed to call and interpret the result.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so all three parameters are already documented with descriptions and constraints (300-char summary, Pro-only hide_attribution). The description restates the same semantics rather than adding new detail like format or default behavior, so the baseline of 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Create or refresh a public read-only link ... for a Wavelength flow') and immediately scopes it ('anyone can open ... no account needed'). It is clearly distinguishable from siblings like get_share_status and unshare_flow, which do not create links.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description conveys when to use it (you want a public read-only link) and the 'create or refresh' framing signals idempotent reuse, plus it flags the Pro-only constraint on hide_attribution. It never names explicit alternatives (get_share_status, unshare_flow) or when-not-to-use, so it stops short of a 5.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
