Add edges

add_edges

Connect nodes in a Wavelength flow. Edge kinds: sequence, data, conditional, reports_to. An edge with a missing source or target is rejected in the result. No AI call. Saves a versioned snapshot labeled 'Edited by AI agent (exact)'. Returns the applied count, a rejected list with reasons, node and edge counts, and a link to open it.

TDQS

A3.9/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Adds substantial behavior beyond annotations: versioned snapshot creation with exact label, no AI call, rejection of edges with missing endpoints, and a detailed return contract including applied count and rejection reasons. This is unusually rich disclosure for a mutation tool.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads purpose, then layers enum, behavior, and return details in tight sentences. Every sentence contributes distinct information with no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given no output schema, the description compensates by describing the return shape. With annotations covering the safety profile and the description covering purpose, rejection behavior, versioning, and returns, an agent has enough to invoke it correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so parameters are fully documented structurally. The description repeats the edge-kind enum and mentions source/target rejection, but adds no new semantic meaning beyond what the schema already provides.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a clear verb and resource: connecting nodes in a Wavelength flow. The edge kinds enumeration reinforces that this is about edges, distinguishing it implicitly from add_nodes or update_edges, but no sibling is named explicitly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines2/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides no when-to-use guidance or alternatives. It does not say when to prefer add_edges over update_edges or add_nodes, leaving the agent to infer usage from the name alone.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
