create_listing

TDQS

A4/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=false and destructiveHint=false; the description adds genuinely useful behavior beyond them: PUT-replace semantics ('sostituisce'), auto-mapping of simple fields into SP-API attributes, catalog-supplied title/brand for ASIN-only offers, and a validation-only dry-run path. It omits the two-step confirm_id confirmation flow, which only the schema mentions.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Dense but front-loaded: operation semantics first, then field mapping, then the ASIN shortcut, then the dry-run flag. Every clause adds information, though the single run-on paragraph is slightly harder to scan than a bulleted layout.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutating tool with a nested object, no output schema, and only 50% schema coverage, the description covers operation semantics, field mapping, the ASIN-only path, and a dry-run escape hatch. The main gap is the confirm_id confirmation workflow, which an agent must infer from the schema alone.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With 50% schema coverage the description must compensate, and it does: it enumerates the accepted simple fields (title, brand, price, quantity, condition, ean/upc/gtin, description, bullets[]), the allowed value for requirements, the meaning of validate_only, and the alternative pre-structured attributes object. It does not elaborate on confirm_id behavior (left to the schema).

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a concrete verb+resource and semantics: 'Crea/sostituisce una listing (PUT)', which tells the agent this is an upsert rather than a pure create. It does not explicitly contrast with siblings like update_listing or bulk_update_listings, so it stops short of the top tier.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives real decision guidance: use simple fields for new offers, or requirements:'LISTING_OFFER_ONLY' + asin when attaching an offer to an existing catalog ASIN (and notes title/brand are then unnecessary). It also points to validate_only:true as a dry-run. No explicit when-not or sibling routing to update_listing, so not a 5.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
