Get Risk Limits

get_risk_limits
Read-only

Read the risk limits the user set for each broker account (e.g. prop firm rules): max lots per order, max open positions, max trades per day, max daily loss, max risk per trade, max drawdown (static or trailing), allowed trading hours (UTC) and allowed/blocked symbols. Every order is checked against them before it is placed; a blocked order fails with "RISK_LIMIT". Check them before proposing or executing trades so your orders fit. Read-only: only the user can change them on the TraderWAI website. "level" is what the plan enforces (none / basic / full); "inactiveRules" are saved but not enforced on the current plan.

A4.6/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true, destructiveHint=false, so the safety profile is covered. The description goes beyond them with enforcement behavior: every order is validated before placement and a blocked order fails with 'RISK_LIMIT', plus the plan-dependent semantics of 'level' and 'inactiveRules' (saved but not enforced). This is meaningful context an annotation cannot carry.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the resource and its fields, then enforcement behavior, then the read-only caveat. Dense and largely waste-free, though 'Every order is checked against them before it is placed' and 'Check them before proposing or executing trades so your orders fit' partially overlap in intent.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

There is no output schema, so the description carries the burden of explaining the return shape and does so by enumerating the rule categories plus the 'level' and 'inactiveRules' fields. For a zero-parameter read tool this is complete enough to call correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Zero parameters, so the baseline is 4. The description adds no parameter detail because none exist, but it does explain the meaning of returned fields like 'level' and 'inactiveRules', which is useful even though it is not strictly parameter semantics.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (read) and resource (risk limits per broker account) and enumerates the exact rules returned: max lots per order, max open positions, max trades per day, max daily loss, max risk per trade, max drawdown, allowed hours, and symbol allow/block lists. No sibling tool touches risk limits, so the agent can separate this from get_broker_accounts or get_account_info immediately.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives an explicit directive: 'Check them before proposing or executing trades so your orders fit.' It also closes off the obvious alternative path by stating the limits are read-only and can only be changed by the user on the TraderWAI website, so the agent knows there is no set/modify counterpart to reach for.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
