Get consultation slots

get_consultation_slots
Read-only

Get available consultation times with The2410 for the current software project. Use this tool when the user wants to speak with The2410 or choose a consultation time. The tool retrieves current calendar availability and returns up to ten slots, ordered from earliest to latest, in the requested timezone. This tool does not reserve a slot or create a booking.

Input Schema

TDQS

A4.2/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already cover the safety profile (readOnly, non-destructive, closed-world), so the description's added value is the return contract: up to ten slots, earliest-to-latest ordering, and requested timezone. It also clarifies the non-mutating boundary, but omits whether an empty result is possible.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three tight sentences: purpose first, then trigger, then the return contract and the non-booking caveat. No filler, and the most decision-relevant routing information is front-loaded.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description steps in to describe the return shape (count and ordering) and timezone handling, which is the critical missing piece. It does not say what a slot object actually contains (e.g., start/end times or identifiers), leaving a small gap for a discovery tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so date_to/date_from/timezone semantics, defaults, and the 31-day span cap are already documented. The description only restates timezone handling and adds no format or constraint detail beyond the schema — baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Get available consultation times with The2410') scoped to the current software project, and explicitly separates itself from the booking flow. An agent can distinguish it from the sibling book_consultation without opening either schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives an explicit trigger ('when the user wants to speak with The2410 or choose a consultation time') and an explicit exclusion ('does not reserve a slot or create a booking'), which implicitly routes booking intent elsewhere. It stops short of naming book_consultation as the alternative for reservation.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
