Get Padlet Post Properties

get_padlet_post_properties
Read-only
  • Purpose: Get the padlet (also known as wall)'s post properties: placeholders, enabled and required fields, and which attachment types are enabled when create/update a post.

  • What this tool returns: { success: true, post_properties: {...}, library_forbidden_attachment_types: [...] }; otherwise { success: false, message: "..." }.

Guidance for use:

  • post_properties.attachment_settings is true when every attachment type is enabled, false when attachments are disabled, or an object of attachment type => enabled. A type missing from the object is disabled.

  • library_forbidden_attachment_types lists the attachment types the padlet's library does not allow; they cannot be enabled.

  • Change these settings with update_padlet_post_properties.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
wall_urlYesThe padlet's link (e.g. https://padlet.com/foo/bar-a1b2c3): the link you were given, the `wall_url` a previous call returned, or a link the user pasted. Not a breakout-room or submission link, and not a padlet id: no tool takes a wall_id.

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true and destructiveHint=false, so the safety profile is covered. The description adds valuable behavioral detail by specifying the success and failure response shapes and explaining how attachment_settings and library_forbidden_attachment_types behave.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is front-loaded with purpose and return shape, then provides focused guidance. The structured bullets and short sentences make it easy to scan, with no irrelevant content.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Although there is no output schema, the description supplies the return shape and key semantics for interpreting attachment settings. Combined with annotations and the fully described input parameter, it gives an agent everything needed to call and understand this read-only tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, and the single wall_url parameter is fully documented in the schema with examples and exclusions. The description does not add parameter syntax or format details beyond what the schema already provides, so baseline 3 is appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource: get the padlet's post properties, including placeholders, enabled and required fields, and attachment types. It also distinguishes the read operation from the sibling update_padlet_post_properties tool.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It clearly directs the agent to use update_padlet_post_properties to change these settings, and explains how to interpret the returned attachment settings. It does not explicitly list when not to use this tool or prerequisites, but the usage context is clear.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
