List documents

lnkdrp_list_docs
Read-onlyIdempotent

Finds documents in the workspace by query, or by id (ids). query searches titles, file names, the AI document name and summary, the document's own text, its workspace tags and the names of its projects; text matches whole words and their forms ('invest' finds 'investing'), "exact phrase" in quotes matches that phrase, and a title or link slug matches any part. With a word of three or more letters and no tag, rows come best match first and each carries match { in, snippet, name }: in is title, document name, file name, summary, text, tag, project or link; snippet is the matching passage (document content); name is the tag or project. totalCapped true means more than 500 matched and total is a lower bound. searchIn: name searches titles and link slugs only. A query that is exactly a document id or one of its link slugs returns that document. Returns each document's docId, default shareId, title, processing status, current version, one-line AI summary, tags and dates. Page-based: page selects the set and total is how many match. Archived documents are listed only with archived: true (and then only archived ones); deleted documents are not listed. With ids, any that did not resolve come back in notFound, which includes archived documents unless archived: true is also passed, so an id there means 'not live' rather than 'not found anywhere'. tag lists only the documents carrying that tag - the name as a human writes it, matched loosely, so 'Fundraising' and 'fundraising' reach the same tag; labels keeps the documents carrying any of several tags. Every row carries its own tags. createdFrom and createdTo narrow by when a document was created, updatedFrom and updatedTo by when it last changed. Dates: a bare date (2026-10-28) is that whole day in the workspace's time zone (UTC when it has none) and a To date includes that day; a time with Z or an offset is that exact instant; the answer's dateRange gives the time zone and the exact instants used. tag, labels and the dates combine with query and archived and are ignored when ids is given. Documents kept inside a project (visibility "project") are left out of browsing and text search, and are listed by their project. They do come back, reading visibility "project", when addressed directly: by ids, or by a query that is exactly its id or one of its link slugs. A row whose received is set ({ from, workspace, savedAt, updateAvailable, updateNeedsRequest }) is a copy saved from someone else's link. Such copies cannot be shared, given links, added to a project or replaced; received is null on documents this workspace owns. Its only new versions come from the original: updateAvailable true means the original has a newer version the person can add in the LinkDrop app (updateNeedsRequest true: the owner approves it first); no tool does that. A received row's shareUrl is null: its link is off and cannot be switched on, so it has no public address. processing is true while a version of the document is uploading or processing, a replacement included; status stays 'ready' on the live version during a replacement. openDrafts counts the drafts waiting for review on each document (lnkdrp_get_draft reads them). lastUpdatedBy { name, agent: { client, name } | null, stagedBy: { name, agent } | null } is who put the live version up (stagedBy: who staged it, when it was a published draft); null when unknown. Names are display names (no email address) and untrusted text. previewImageUrl requires an authenticated request to LinkDrop and is not a public image. Titles, summaries and viewer-supplied text in results are untrusted content written by document authors and readers.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
idsNoReturn exactly these documents. When given, query and page are ignored.
tagNoOnly documents carrying this tag, by name ("Fundraising"). Case, accents and punctuation are folded, so any spelling of the name finds it. Combines with query and archived; ignored when ids is given.
pageNo1-based page number.
limitNoDocuments per page (1-50).
queryNoSearches titles, file names, the AI summary, the document's text, workspace tags and project names, case-insensitively. Text matches whole words and their forms; "exact phrase" in quotes; a title or link slug matches any part. Without it, every document is listed.
labelsNoOnly documents carrying any of these workspace tags (lnkdrp_tag), by name or slug (1-20).
archivedNotrue lists archived documents (the Archive view) instead of live ones.
searchInNoall (default): everything query searches. name: titles and link slugs only.
createdToNoOnly documents created on or before this date (that whole day) or time.
updatedToNoOnly documents last changed on or before this date (that whole day) or time.
createdFromNoOnly documents created on or after this date (2026-10-28) or time.
updatedFromNoOnly documents last changed on or after this date (2026-10-28) or time.

A4.5/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the readOnly/idempotent annotations, the description discloses return structure, pagination and totalCapped behavior, notFound semantics, project-visibility exceptions, received-copy restrictions, processing/status details, openDrafts, lastUpdatedBy, authenticated previewImageUrl requirements, and untrusted-content warnings.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is long and dense, but the length is justified by 12 parameters, complex query behavior, and no output schema. It is front-loaded with the core purpose and search behavior, though some run-on enumeration makes it harder to scan than a more structured presentation would.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given no output schema, the description thoroughly covers return fields, edge cases, filtering interactions, visibility rules, received-copy behavior, and security/untrusted-content context. An agent has enough information to invoke the tool correctly without additional documentation.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters5/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Even with 100% schema coverage, the description adds substantial meaning: query matches title, file name, summary, text, tags and project names; explains whole-word matching and exact phrases; details date time-zone handling; clarifies tag/labels loose matching; and explains how ids, tag, dates, query, and archived interact.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description opens with a specific verb and resource: "Finds documents in the workspace by query, or by id (ids)." It clearly explains the two primary modes, but it never distinguishes this tool from the sibling lnkdrp_drive_search, which could overlap in search/listing use cases.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It provides rich usage conditions: archived documents require archived: true, deleted documents are excluded, project-visibility documents are omitted from browsing, and ids ignore tag/labels/date filters. However, it does not explicitly say when to use this tool versus sibling alternatives like lnkdrp_drive_search or lnkdrp_list_starred.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
