Write the CV and cover letter for a job we do not apply to

prepare_external_application

For a job the app marks as applied on the employer's own site (apply_to_public_job / start_apply_run answer that they do not apply there for the person): tailors the person's CV and writes the cover letter for that one job, on request, using no application credit. Returns the cover letter text; fetch the two PDFs with get_external_pack_pdf. A paid model call, cached per job. Nothing is sent to the employer.

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With annotations only covering the mutation safety profile, the description adds substantial behavior: it consumes no application credit, is a paid model call, is cached per job, and sends nothing to the employer. It also explains the output handling (returns cover letter text, PDFs via get_external_pack_pdf). This is well beyond what readOnlyHint/destructiveHint/idempotentHint convey.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the condition that selects this tool, and every clause carries information (credit, cost, cache, output, no external send). It is somewhat dense with nested parentheticals, which slightly hurts readability but not content value.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

No output schema exists, and the description compensates by describing the return value and how to get the PDFs. Combined with cost, caching, credit, and no-side-effect disclosure, an agent has everything needed to call this correctly and set user expectations.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Only one parameter and schema coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents job_id and its provenance (list_matching_jobs or apply_to_public_job). The description adds no syntax or format detail beyond the schema, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb pair (tailors the CV, writes the cover letter) and the exact resource (the external application pack for one job), and explicitly carves itself away from apply_to_public_job and start_apply_run. An agent can distinguish it from preview_tailored_cv and get_external_pack_pdf without opening any schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives the precise triggering condition — a job the app marks as applied on the employer's own site where apply_to_public_job/start_apply_run do not apply on the user's behalf — and names those alternatives. It also states 'on request', implying this is not automatic. Routing is unambiguous.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
